Sprint 1:
Name your world. It could be a town, a country, a literal world - a nation, whatever. But name it. Remember you can change this later. Be as specific as possible. Then describe the world in three sentences.
You have 5 minutes.
Sprint 2:
We're going to touch on weather. Take some time to describe the weather in your world. Does it have four seasons? Two? Eight? What's the precipitation like? Does it rain? Snow? Brimstone? Go deep.
Only focus on the weather. Don't touch the nature and foliage. Just weather.
Take 10 minutes. Write at least two paragraphs.
Sprint 3:
Describe the topography of the area. Mountains, trees, etc.
You have 10 minutes.
Sprint 4:
Come up with the government for your story. The basic laws of the land. Include the written law and the unspoken laws. Go deep. Think outside the box.
You have 10 minutes.
Sprint 5:
Come up with three of the laws that are commonly broken.
You have 5 minutes.
Sprint 6:
Now it's time to focus on religion and supernatural beliefs of your universe. Write them out and come up with what the belief system of your story is.
You have 10 minutes.
Sprint 7:
Go deep. Look at the last three sprints. How does religion and supernatural beliefs, or the lack there of, affect the laws of the land?
You have 10 minutes.
Sprint 8:
Now we're going to tackle manners and customs. The first thing we're going to discuss are courtship rituals. Take this sprint to think about how people get together in your universe. How do they wed or do they? How do they mate or do they? If you're writing mainstream fiction, tailor this to your main character. How would they try to enter a relationship?
You have 10 minutes.
