krazikrys That's awesome! I'm a teacher and I always love seeing proactive parents! Kitty: I taught for 5 years. And when I had my son we moved back home. When he started getting scary smart after going to playschool, I knew after my daughter was born I was going to have to homeschool him through preschool. Now he's the right age to go to preschool, but he's WAY too smart and would be bored out of his mind with the letter ID and number ID and colors and shapes. He's reading level 2 early readers. He knows all of the pre-primer and primer sight words. He can add and subtract within 10 with counters and without (sometimes). The kid is scary smart! He loves to learn! Yet at the same time with the homeschooling, I can't afford to buy a curriculum. He's too young to fall under the school district's supervision of homeschooling so I don't get curriculum that way. So I've been trying to do this on a very limited budget.

krazikrys From what I saw on your blog, it looked like you were doing great with a limited budget! Dollar tree and Goodwill were my best friends when I started out in Kindergarten. What grades did you teach when you taught?

I spent a year teaching 5th grade and 4 years teaching 3rd grade. I'm hoping to get another homeschooling blog post up soon. We're not like traditional homeschoolers. We are "year round"!

OK... so I do need help. How do you decide what to make for your initial blog post? The one that starts it all?

Well, it depends on what your blog is going to be about. Mine was about my family, so I started with our story, I think. So probably the best place to start is "what are you going to blog about?" If it something like crafting or whatever then I would talk about your experience, etc. If it's just a general writing blog, I'd talk about why and/or when you got into writing.

It's basically going to be a "Faith, Family, Farm" blog. I'm going to cover topics ranging from my involvement in my church/faith to family things to raising chickens/rabbits/any other critters we get.

So I'd lay that out initially. Kinda go "Hey ya'll! Here's my blog. This is what I PLAN on talking about, but I can of course talk about ANYTHING!" LOL

I laid out my plan in my first post, although my blog has strayed far from my original post. (In fact, went back to see what I posted about and almost laughed! www.hodgepodgemoments.com/2013/06/blog-kick-off.html)Sarah, I keep up with your blog through instagram and Facebook a lot.
